I got kind of antsy today and made a quick (sort of) video for you guys. (Yay! Another person with a webcam!)
Also. I blame Pam Slim for the “I’m sitting in my room right now” brand of quality. She’s lowered the bar a couple of notches (and I love her for it).
One more note: for every time I say “face of the company”, mentally replace it with “face of the RELATIONSHIP side of the company”. Because that’s what I meant in my head. Quality, folks!

Waaaaaaaaaaaaay off topic but you totally remind me of/sound like Rachel McAdams. YOU’RE SO CUTE yay I can’t wait to hang out!
And um, yeah. Social networking. Let those experts do their thang. (Seeeee I paid attention. Kinda).
:]

Alright so I make a couple thousand a month by “ghostwriting” for different fashion designers, rest. owners…
Kind of something I keep a bit on the DL because everyone seems to have opinions on it
I don’t know if I totally agree with your point, I don’t think they should be the FACE of your company I really don’t. When working with someone to help promote YOU YOUR BRAND the company YOU have slaved over, your face as the owner deserves to be on it. I think it should be completely acceptable.
With that being said I think it has to be done very carefully. I check in with my clients every week and see them in person every other week. I am very involved in understanding their company/brand unbelievably well.
I have a husband that has a really large career and business and he has to outsource. He puts a lot of thought into WHAT to outsource and HOW. It takes a big stress load off of him. There is only so much you can do and outsourcing your social media may be one of them. But to let the person you hired by the FACE of it representing YOU. I don’t think so…in my bossy opinion of course

@Liz – HAHAHA! You know what? That just made my day. I can’t wait, either! What, we’ve got four weeks? WooHOO!
@Vanessa – Thanks for giving the other side of it. I’m so happy to hear that you can do this really successfully. I think I worded it wrong — not so much “face of the company” as in “face of the RELATIONSHIP part of the company”. Big difference, right? Heh. Annnyway.
I tried ghostnetworking for one of my clients a way while back, and it was a miserable mess. Never doing that again. Perhaps it’s just my style. Maybe it works better with a more information-giving, content-sharing approach. My approach has always been more “Here I am. LOVE ME.” LOL
Even more irrelevant, the short hair is really flattering… stick with it.
P.S. If I act normal it HAS to be an act!!

@Steve Thanks man! I am cracking up at your blog right now. Is it farce? Or is your content really for aspiring panhandlers? LOL!
How wonderful to see your face and your fabulous short hair. More video blogs, please!
You are ridiculously awesome. Lovely video!

“How to outsource your social networking without being an idiot”? Really? I can be an idiot just by being myself. No ghost writer necessary!

Wow cj and Megan…thanks! Ya’ll are going to make me blush!
@Kelvin – You know, I can too. I even have proven strategies and all that. Maybe I’ll write an eBook. Maybe you can be on the panel of experts.
Interesting you should mention this Sarah because I was definitely about to head down that path but was having some concerns I couldn’t put my finger on. I tweet enough (I think) that it would (or could be) rather obvious if it wasn’t me doing it. Unless I were a Gemini (like my brother). As much as he argues with this, there are TWO sides of him and i KNOW which one I am talking to as soon as he answers the phone. ANYWAY, my point is, if it were no more obvious of a personality disorder than what he exhibits as a Gemini, then it would be okay. But then again, I can see it going terribly awry! I have to think on this a bit more… Thank you for the video and I am impressed that you have done it. I can’t believe you have become any more REAL than you already were in the written word (if that makes sense).
I did not think you could get any more adorable. But now, with this video, you have gone and done it! Love the haircut! You are rocking that haircut!
And I agree with everything you said. Great tip about making sure they’re really enthusiastic about you and your brand. I can see something like this applying to a firm or an online store, where it’s not just about one person’s personality.
Some of the new fancy Twitter apps let you automatically display who’s tweeting in the bio, so it’s always transparent. I’d do that if I was scalable. But I’m not so I don’t.
More videos please!
If I wasn’t so darned charismatic already, I’d let you be the face of my company! ;p

“… they spend all day planting a farm …”
LOL! You are adorable.
