Thank you SO MUCH to everyone who responded to my tweet about my quest to find the perfect fit for our new Master of Ceremonies role. In that process, I’ve discovered the key to going viral: let it leak that you’re looking to hire someone. You will get more tweets, facebook mentions, and emails than you ever thought possible. I had meant to mention it on the blog, but there was such a huge response to that one little tweet that I had to keep mum about it after that. (Moral of the story: follow me on Twitter. Good things happen.)
Introducing…Cali Harris! I met her in Boulder two summers ago when I went to meet up with Gwen and Liz. She was immediately a kindred spirit. When I found out that she was interested in working with us (and in fact has a VISION BOARD with our studio on it!), my heart did a flippety flop.
When I was standing in the kitchen flipping pancakes for dinner one night (we tend to have breakfast at non-breakfasty times), the phrase “When I hire Cali…” unintentionally slipped out. John caught it. “Oh, so you’re hiring Cali?” Ummm…yeah. I guess I am.
And I did! We confirmed it Thursday, started the training wheels yesterday, and are currently falling even more madly in love with this little salsa-dancing fireball.
Cali is in charge of the relationship aspect of the studio — keeping our heart on our sleeve and making sure the experience is as little like a virtual one as possible. Even though we work with folks all over the planet, we want it to feel like we’re locals, from that first handshake to the eventual leap into internet launchery.
Yay, Cali! We’re so glad to have you on the team!

I couldn’t be more happy to be joining an out-of-this-world team!
There’s a way we can combing dancing fireballs and #loveofweb, right? Like, fireballs shooting across pages?!
Thank you, Sarah, Leah & Julianne – it’s an honor be working with you.
Also, hi. “Combing”? Combing dancing fireballs? Ha. *combine
If we had a master of ceremonies position, Cali would be our number one choice. She’s outstanding – and I can’t think of a better person to bring aboard. Congrats to both of you!
Thanks, Matt! We are beyond thrilled!
Good choice! If I were still in Jr High, I would totally pick Cali for my kickball team…or salsa team.
Actually, I think I would pick her for just about any team. I’m Team Cali. And I’m happy to hear you are too.
Also, CONGRATS CALI! Now go get your “Master of Ceremonies” jersey made (with a heart sewn on the sleeve) and hit the field.
David, thank you so much! Do you know where I can get one of those jerseys?
I wrote it to you both in an email, but I prefer to praise in public, so I’ll say copy+paste here:
Wha wha wha wha wha!!! OMG *faints* *blinks ten times*
I am thrilled beyond words that this is happening.
You two are amazing. Yay. Ya-hey! This is perfect. Let me know if there are ways I can support, promote, grow, evangelize, whatever it.

Thank you, Gwen! Much, MUCH thanks to you for intro-ing us.
Gwen – Your response? That was mine, too.
And to be Sarah’s ceremonial echo: thank YOU for the connect!
Yay for Cali! If we could afford an employee, we’d hire her too! Hope my seconding of the motion helped! haha, not that she needed it.
Suzanne, I SO appreciate your seconding of the motion! So, so much.
Yay –congrats to you both…!
- let the parties begin, and let them be epic!
They shall, they shall. And I hope the parties include pancakes-for-dinner.
(Thanks, Satya!)
That is pure awesome!!!!
Fireballs + pancakes for dinner + combing + Cali with feathers in her hair and tons of brilliant ideas + Sarah J. Bray studios + some Gwen Bell fairy dust = more goodness to be shared worldwide!!
So happy for you all.

ps. And thanks for the description of what her job will be. I found myself doing a happy dance for Cali but then I realized I didn’t even know what her new title meant. Glad I headed over here!
