I am loving OmmWriter for writing on the computer. They call it “a beautiful writing environment that helps you concentrate and create”. But I’m calling it “my own little writing world where nobody bothers me and where my computer keys have a pleasant clicky sound.”
I happily write, write, write, then export it all as a text file to Scrivener for Mac, which is like salvation for all of my writing woes. It’s delightful.

I used to write in Grandview. It has the über focus mode — one word at a time. But I switched to iA Writer (with focus mode — current sentence is solid black, others are gray) because Grandview’s a menu bar app — I really wanted regular windows.
I found Ommwriter and it was one of those things that made me angry about all of its predecessors.
Oh, wow, I can write on something that’s not… UGLY???
Oh wow, I’ve been bludgeoned with office-y, bland blah-ness of MS Word all these years and never even NOTICED how much I hate it?
Oh, wow, I’ve been forgetting about the importance of CONTAINERS? (… of a creative experience, I mean.)
Something silly like this can have that much… power to shape my writing experience?
Still haven’t gotten over the anger.
Beauty, simplicity, return to subtle energies and the importance of *containers* will save souls and the world.
Thanks for your unique flavor of brilliance, as always,
xoxo, Simone
I *really* like the pleasant clicky typing sounds.
Yes! I love OmmWriter. I’ve experimented with others, but it’s definitely my favorite. Simone, I had the same experience.
